In a hairstyle competition that gives new meaning to the term big hair, a team of Sudbury stylists won the top prize for a hair-do that delivered a star-spangled message.

Invidia Salon owners Nicole Demartini and Philip Patzleiner won first place in the Imperia Vodka Hair Competition held in N.H. on June 2 with their design “America the Beautiful.” Modeled by Patricia Nathan, a stylist at the Boston Post Road salon and day spa, the hair-do was a massive red, white and blue banner that wrapped around the model’s torso and featured a hidden device that fired sparkling confetti 20 feet in the air.
